Clarke Roofing completed a full re-roof for a local builder in Plumpton, covering the existing house and new garage. Works included installation of ventilation, breathable membrane, new clay tiles throughout, purpose-made valley tiles, Code 4 leadwork to LCA standards at all junctions, vertical tiling on three gable ends, and the new garage roof.
We recently completed a comprehensive roofing project for a local building contractor who was carrying out extensive renovation works on a property in Plumpton. The project involved a complete re-roof of the existing house following significant structural alterations to the roof framework, as well as roofing works to a newly constructed detached garage.
Our site team commenced works by stripping back a designated section of the existing roof covering. This allowed the building contractor to undertake the required structural alterations to the roof framework. Once these structural changes were completed, we proceeded with the full re-roof, working systematically across the entire roof structure.
We installed over-fascia ventilation at the eaves along the full length of the roof. This provides continuous airflow into the roof space. New timber counter battens were then installed across the roof area.
5U eaves support sheets were installed along all eaves to provide support for the first course of tiles. We then fitted Proctor Roofshield breathable membrane across the entire roof area to provide effective weatherproofing and ventilation.
The roof was retiled using brand-new clay nibbed tiles throughout. We installed matching ridge tiles along all ridge lines, verge tiles at the gable edges, and granny bonnet tiles to maintain a cohesive aesthetic across the property.
At all valley intersections, we fitted purpose-made valley tiles on each course to ensure durability and proper water management.
Where the upper roof abutted the lower roof, we installed new Code 4 lead aprons. At the dormer cheeks, we fitted Code 4 lead soakers as well as step and cover flashings. The chimney stack also received new Code 4 lead soakers and flashings. All leadwork was completed strictly in accordance with Lead Contractors Association (LCA) guidelines and best-practice recommendations.
We completed vertical tiling on three gable ends, installing new clay plain tiles to achieve a clean, uniform finish across the property. In addition to the main house roofing works, we completed the roof to the newly constructed detached garage.
The completed project has provided the property with a comprehensive new roof system. The combination of quality materials and proper installation techniques ensures effective weather protection, while the finished appearance maintains the property's character.
