1949
Clarke roofing was established by Frank Clarke snr. Frank was a fisherman off Hastings but had to stop after the war because of the mines so started a roofing company.
1980
Frank Snr retired. His two sons, Rob and Frank Clarke took over the business.
1998
Rob Clarke retired, leaving Frank to run the company.
1999
The company celebrated 50 years in business
1999
We moved from our Hailsham yard to Hammonds Drive in Eastbourne.
2003
Due to company growth Frank appointed Paul Strudwick and David Beer company directors. At the time Paul and David had been with the company for 30 years. Paul is now Operations Director and David Head of Estimating.
2009
We extended the offices and yard to accommodate the growing company.
2012
Our Flat Roofing department was launched.
2014
Won first NFRC award for our project at Hollybridge.
2015
Clarke Roofing were finalists in an international award for our work on the Wadhurst Church spire.
2016
Lloyd Clarke, Josh Clarke and Karl Strudwick progress to the office after 10 years on site learning the trade to take the company into its third generation.
2017
Clarke Roofing won the contract to renew the lead work on Canterbury Cathedral
2018
Clarke Roofing won the West Dean College contract for re-roofing and restoration works to be completed over a 2 year period and valued circa £5 million.

We won the NFRC Gold Safety award for a record 11th successive year.
Our charity golf day raised £11,000 for blood runners, Serve
Sussex.
Mike Ashdown joined us as part of a University surveyors
degree course.
2020
Clarke Roofing won the Eastbourne and Lewes roofing framework contract.
Covid 19 caused shutdown to all works except our NHS Hospital work.
Achieved ISO 14001
Awards won for Health & Safety and Lead Contractors Awards for leadwork.
2021
Awards won for Health & Safety, UK Roofing Awards and Sussex Heritage Awards. Work completed on Maison Dieu, Dover and works started on Jane Austen’s House in Hampshire. George Potter joins as trainee in Flat Roofing department
