New Roof for B&B in Crowborough

The works on Fairstowe in Crowborough included a rear elevation re-roof and a side elevation low-level re-roof.

Fairstowe is a beautiful Arts and Crafts Edwardian Country House that lies within one mile of the centre of the small town of Crowborough, East Sussex, on the edge of the Ashdown Forest.  Fairstowe is a B&B and is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty.  The works included a rear elevation re-roof and a side elevation low-level re-roof.

In 2021, we carried out vertical tiling works on the property, stripping the existing tiles and reinstating them with all-new, hand-crafted clay peg tiles.

Our team carefully stripped the roof, salvaging as many of the existing clay peg tiles as they could.  These were then reinstated with the addition of reclaimed tiles to match the existing as closely as possible.  We also installed code 4 lead soakers and flashing around the chimney stacks.

The swept valleys to the dormers were a complex detail within the roof, and care was taken to ensure the coursing within the swept section was consistent and lined up with the adjacent tiling.

These were crafted to replicate the elegant swept valley of the original design.

The blend of tiles on the vertical complements the salvaged tiles used in the recent rear elevation re-roof, creating a seamless and cohesive look across the property. The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship have ensured a stunning finish that still looks as pristine as the day it was completed.
